All nine of ‘Responses to Shostakovich’ series of paintings were on display this weekend at the Carducci Festival in the beautiful Highnam Church. The paintings were created in response to the Carducci 2015 recording of the 4th, 8th and 11th Quartets.
The paintings took up the whole of the north aisle while The Carducci Quartet performed their evening concerts including a late night Shostakovich concert. It was the first time that they had been out with the quartet and with the music they represent, and the paintings were warmly received by quartet members Matthew & Emma Denton, Eoin Schmidt-Martin and Michelle Fleming.
