I was delighted to be invited to show some of my ‘Responses to Shostakovich’ series of paintings at the Carducci Quartet’s weekend Shostakovich Cycle event at the Cheltenham Music Festival in June 2015. The weekend of concerts took place in the Tithe Barn at Syde Manor, Gloucestershire – the quartet performed a marathon of all 15 of Shostakovich’s string quartets in 4 concerts. This photo below shows my five paintings (a response to the great 8th Quartet) on the wall behind the Carducci quartet as they rehearse in the Tithe Barn A beautiful setting. The paintings will be going out again in late Spetember for the Carducci weekend event in Aldeburgh, Suffolk.
